Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer
Carv is creating a new category of sports technology by redefining the way skill-based sports are taught with cutting-edge hardware, real-time audio instruction, AI-driven data analytics and content curated by the best instructors in their industries.
Our first product, Carv, focuses on skiing and was launched in 2016 after a record breaking Kickstarter campaign. We are growing at a rapid pace, recording over 70 million skiing turns, doubling our user-base and selling out for 4 years in a row, and we will soon deliver more hours of ski coaching than any ski school.
Carv’s smart inserts retrofit to any ski boot to measure pressure and motion, data is then processed by your smartphone to deliver turn-by-turn coaching through your headphones and a breakdown of your technique in our app.
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our mobile development teams. We want to create the world's best ski coaching experience for our users and we need your help to get there!
About the role
You will be working with a tight knit team of people who take pride in producing high quality work. Your primary focus will be ensuring the quality of our iOS and Android mobile applications. You’ll be testing the apps on the slopes, but will also own and develop our manual and automated testing processes on both mobile platforms. This will involve writing code that tests the apps automatically when our team make changes to the codebase.
Take ownership of Carv's Quality Assurance processes. This is a great way to start a software engineering career. You will write both manual and automated tests for new and existing features, with a goal to streamline our release testing. The best bit? This will involve skiing!
Go skiing! The best way to test new features is to use them as intended, which means plenty of time on the slopes this winter.
Work in a cross functional team. We are a small company, but we have a tight knit and collaborative team atmosphere. You'll will be primarily working for our mobile software team, but will interact with a wide range of roles on an ongoing basis.
Experience the exponential growth of a start-up. Carv is a new business that’s doubling every year, which means there are huge strides to be made and new opportunities constantly arising. Come with ambition and a learning mindset - every team is learning something new every day.
A Computer Science (or similar) undergraduate degree with 1st or Upper 2nd class results, or similar proven knowledge and experience.
Experience in Software Development and coding in a general purpose programming language.
Ability to work in a fast paced, team-based environment
Debugging and critical thinking skills
Analytical and problem solving skills
Attention to detail and methodological thinking.
Nice to have:
Good working knowledge of data structures and algorithms
Experience with iOS development
Experience with Android development
