Carv is creating a new category of sports technology by redefining the way skill-based sports are taught with cutting-edge hardware, real-time audio instruction, AI-driven data analytics and content curated by the best instructors in their industries.
Our first product focuses on skiing and was launched in 2016 after a record breaking Kickstarter campaign. Carv’s smart inserts utilise novel capacitive pressure sensing technology and manufacturing processes to measure pressure and motion. Data is then processed by your smartphone to deliver turn-by-turn coaching through your headphones and a breakdown of your technique in our app. We’ve shipped 21,000 units to date and are doubling production every year to keep up with demand.
We are looking for someone to ensure that the product is made, shipped, and delivered efficiently, building a world-class supply chain as we continue to scale and cement our leading position in digital coaching.
About the role
Manufacturing our product in Shenzhen, we have built up a large network of suppliers both for prototyping and mass manufacture. The innovative nature of the product requires non-standard processes throughout production, with no single factory able to manufacture the whole product. This means that our manufacturing supply chain is on the one hand exciting, working with some of the worlds’ top factories, but also complex. At the same time our logistics operation has grown significantly more sophisticated as we increase our reach into markets across the world. We are looking for someone with an analytical and forward-looking mindset who can optimise our upstream and downstream supply chain to add value across the business.
Working with the Hardware and Operations team, your mission will be to ensure that our product is designed, manufactured, and shipped to customers on time. At first, you will be working with the hardware team to optimise the quality and cost of the product by investigating new suppliers and sourcing components. Then in the build to the season, you will be managing our network of suppliers to ensure the product’s delivery.
This role will be primarily based in London, but travel to our supplier base in Shenzhen, China will be expected for a few weeks each year.
In the role, you will:
Coordinate the Carv supply chain to produce and ship the next generation of the product on time and to cost.
Second sourcing: working with our agencies in China, alongside any previous network, to find and evaluate new suppliers.
Production planning for our mass production runs.
Manage the relationships with our suppliers, including negotiating contracts, communicating production plans, ensuring timely delivery and timely payment.
Ensuring the continuous improvement of our Supply Chain for future seasons.
Our candidate is someone who:
Has 3+ years of experience, either in supply chain or in a relevant other field such as management consulting, project management, or new product development.
Has experience manufacturing in China.
Is a strong communicator, both with colleagues and with our supplier network.
Is analytically minded, with the ability to spot and solve potential problems before they occur.
Is organised, detail oriented, and comfortable with producing and updating in-depth production plans that take all possible situations into account to minimise delivery delays.
The following will be a bonus:
- Access to a strong network of suppliers in the Shenzhen area.
- Experience bringing a consumer electronics hardware product to market.
- Engineering background
Our head office is in Brixton, London where most of the team are based throughout the year. Remote candidates will be considered.
This role will involve periodic travel to China, especially during mass production (Autumn).
Over winter, you’ll have the opportunity to work from our Mountain HQ in Innsbruck, Austria with access to some of the world’s best ski resorts. You’ll also have access to the company flat out of peak skiing season.
Full time, immediate start available.
Competitive with options.
