Data Analytics Engineer
We are creating a new category of sports technology by redefining the way skill-based sports are taught with cutting-edge hardware, real-time audio instruction, AI-driven data analytics and content curated by the best instructors in their industries.
Our first product, Carv, focuses on skiing and was launched in 2016. We are venture-backed and growing at a rapid pace, recording over 170 million skiing turns, doubling our user-base and selling out for 4 years in a row. We now deliver more hours of ski coaching than any other ski school every year.
Carv’s smart inserts retrofit to any ski boot to measure pressure and motion. The data is then processed by your phone to deliver turn-by-turn coaching through your headphones and a breakdown of your technique in our app.
About the role
Over the past three ski seasons, we’ve collected terabytes of skiing data covering tens of millions of skiing turns and user instructions. We are looking for a passionate Analytics Engineer to join our growing data science team so we can help everyone ski better.
You will be leading on internal analytics to help all departments remain data-driven as we continue to scale and cement our leading position in digital coaching..This will involve working closely with our tight-knit team of data scientists and developers, as well as internal stakeholders from across the company. We’re a passionate group who love skiing and thinking up new ways to apply technology to sports coaching.
The successful candidate will have a passion for engineering, as well as sports, finding the right tool for the job, and making an impact on the business.
In the role, you will be:
Owning internal analytics to support departments in making data-driven decisions via one-time analysis and automated analysis via interactive dashboards.
Laying the foundations so that analytics at Carv can scale and be an attractive option for future internal analytics hires (analysts, engineers and data scientists). This is a chance to heavily influence the analytics culture and team at the fast-growing startup.
Building and maintaining datasets and pipelines that feed the data science team and dashboards in a scalable and sustainable way.
Helping the Data Science team productionalise their code and building analysis libraries.
Our candidate is someone who has:
3+ years experience spread across data analyst and data/analytics engineering roles
Engineering / Computer Science background
Proficient in Python and SQL
Experience in both conducting one-time analysis and converting commonly requested analysis into interactive dashboards
Experience applying software engineering best practices to analytics (version control, testing, and CI/CD)
Experience building and maintaining a data warehouse (preferably snowflake + dbt)
Clear and direct communication skills, comfortable working with engineers, analysts and stakeholders across the business.
Our head office is in Vauxhall, London where most of the team are based throughout the year.
Over winter, you’ll have the opportunity to work from our Mountain HQ in Innsbruck, Austria with access to some of the world’s best ski resorts. You’ll also have access to the company flat for personal trips outside of the peak skiing season.
We prefer 2 days per week in either our London or Innsbruck office, but will accept 100% remote if your timezone is within an hour of London.
Full time, immediate start available.
£45k to £65k per year with equity options
Innsbruck ski pass, giving you access to all local resorts for the duration of the season
Travel between Innsbruck and London
Usage of company Innsbruck accommodation throughout the year
