About us

We are creating a new category of sports technology by redefining the way skill-based sports are taught with cutting-edge hardware, real-time audio instruction, AI-driven data analytics and content curated by the best instructors in their industries.

Our first product, Carv, focuses on skiing and was launched in 2016. We are venture-backed and growing at a rapid pace, recording over 70 million skiing turns, doubling our user-base and selling out for 4 years in a row. We now deliver more hours of ski coaching than any other ski school every year.

Carv’s smart inserts retrofit to any ski boot to measure pressure and motion. The data is then processed by your phone to deliver turn-by-turn coaching through your headphones and a breakdown of your technique in our app.

About the role

Over the past three ski seasons, we’ve collected terabytes of skiing data covering tens of millions of skiing turns and user instructions. We are looking for a passionate DevOps Engineer to join our growing software team so we can help everyone ski better.

You will be working with a tight-knit team of iOS, Android and Rust Engineers to help scale Carv’s infrastructure, as well as our data scientist and operations team to level up our internal engineering efforts. We’re a passionate group who love skiing and thinking up new ways to apply technology to sports coaching.

Our backend is built on a combination of Docker, Rust and Python and uses HTTP and gRPC APIs. Your day-to-day work will be scaling and maintaining our server infrastructure and data processing pipeline, setting up and configuring integrations for our operations team, and conducting data analysis for the wider team.

The successful candidate will have a passion for scaling and maintaining infrastructure and digging into data for analysis.

In the role, you will:

  • Scale our data pipelines to process new data and reprocess old data

  • Streamline our server deployment and management process

  • Create dashboards to help teams track their KPIs

  • Develop and maintain the infrastructure that powers our test jigs during manufacturing

  • Write SQL or Django ORM code to dig into our data for insights

Our candidate is someone who has:

  • Experience with Docker

  • Experience with Kubernetes

  • Experience with CI/CD

  • Experience with Python

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience with designing and deploying Systems Architecture

  • Experience with data analytics

The following will be a bonus:

Our head office is in Vauxhall, London where most of the team are based throughout the year.

Over winter, you’ll have the opportunity to work from our Mountain HQ in Innsbruck, Austria with access to some of the world’s best ski resorts. You’ll also have access to the company flat for personal trips outside of the peak skiing season.

Remote work

We prefer 2 days per week in either our London or Innsbruck office, but will accept 100% remote if your timezone is within an hour of London.
