Ski:IQ™ Nevado
What is Ski:IQ™?
Ski:IQ™ scores your skiing ability relative to others around the world.
How does it work?
Ski:IQ™ Nevado leverages our assessment of terrain (snow surface and pitch), turn type (short vs. longer turns), and performance (rotary, edging, and balance) as inputs to an advanced AI model trained to emulate a world-class ski instructor.
All terrain capability
To power Ski:IQ and help you measure progress across the whole mountain, Carv automatically detects the snow surface and pitch of the terrain you ski.

What do the numbers mean?
The average skier will have a Ski:IQ™ of 100. As skiing ability increases, your Ski:IQ increases. The higher your Ski:IQ, the more difficult it is to increase your score.
How many turns are required?
Ski:IQ™ Nevado requires 8 valid turns in a skiing segment (between starting and stopping) to provide an accurate score. The score is the median of all of the qualified turns (shown as navy on the map) in the segment. Turns that score far below your median shown in (shown as grey on the map) are excluded from your calculation.
Will Ski:IQ™ change?
Each year, we strive to provide a more accurate and well-rounded version of Ski:IQ™.
As a result, your scores from prior years are updated each year so that they are comparable with the latest version.
What is new about Ski:IQ™ Nevado?
Ski:IQ™ Nevado is our most accurate and well-rounded version to date. It uses advanced AI to better score skiing across different turn types and terrain. It was trained with thousands of videos, independently ranked by some of the best ski instructors in the world, as well as approximately 500 million turns from the Carv database.
Previous versions of Ski:IQ™ were focused on carving turns on groomed runs.
