Phone Compatibility with Carv
Carv is compatible with any iPhone that has a minimum of iOS 15 installed, though we recommend using the most up-to-date version of iOS.
Carv requires a minimum of Android 8.0 to run, and your phone must support Bluetooth 4.2.
It is also recommended that you use a phone which has a barometer in order for Carv to function most effectively.

Android Compatibility Testing
We have tested on over 50 devices and analysed data from 740 different android devices to help you make an informed decision on whether Carv will work with your device.
Firstly, there are devices we know don’t work with Carv due to some bluetooth issues:
Carv transmits data between the sensors and your phone at 20 times per seconds per side. Some lower end phones can’t handle this amount of data transfer over bluetooth.
For this reason, we would not recommend using Carv with devices marked with an ❌ for ‘Bluetooth capacity’ in the below compatibility table.

During our testing programme of 2020/2021, we encountered a strange bug on a brand new flagship phone which uncovered a bluetooth corruption issue that affects some phones.
For this reason we would not recommend using Carv with devices marked with an ❌ for ‘Bluetooth corruption’ in the below compatibility table.

Secondly, there are device we know need special steps to get Carv running smoothly:
Battery Whitelisting and App Locking
Carv is doing lots of clever things whilst recording your skiing, so some phones might see this as an unnecessary battery drain and terminate the app forcefully, causing you to lose your skiing data.
We recommend whitelisting the Carv app for battery usage and also locking the Carv app while recording to ensure the system doesn’t terminate the Carv app due to excessive battery consumption.

Google Play Store Requirement
Currently, the only way to download the Carv app is to download via the Google Play Store. This means that devices without access to the Google Play Store will not be able to download and therefore use Carv. This affects newer Huawei devices including the Mate 30 and P40 and will continue to affect new Huawei devices into the future.
