FAQ
Ski:IQ™ is a measurement created by Carv to provide an objective score of your ski technique.
It is based on how you ski in each terrain, and how your ski movement patterns compare to perfect technique.
A beginner skier will score 70, an intermediate 100-120, advanced 120-140 an expert scoring 140-160.
Carv tracks your Ski:IQ™ over time so you know when you're improving.
Definitely. Many of Carv’s most active members are expert or instructor-level skiers. Experts use it to refine those fine details that make great skiing feel effortless.
Carv’s pathways are built with Olympians and pro-athletes so they are sensitive to measuring nuances in high-performance carving, as well as helping you build terrain versatility and consistency.
You’ll get data-driven feedback and coaching cues that reveal the small changes separating smooth from exceptional. Even seasoned instructors find Carv allows them to change things they couldn't spot themselves.
Give it a go! We're confident you'll find a new level to your skiing, which is why we have a 100-day returns policy.
Yes! Carv automatically detects the snow you’re skiing on — from groomers to bumps to powder.
You can ski anywhere and Carv will adapt your coaching to match the terrain, with dedicated coaching pathways for Parallel, Carving, Moguls, Short Turns, and Powder.
Wherever you ski, you’ll always have a clear next step to keep progressing.
No. Carv is built for every skier, not just experts. If you can ski around the resort by yourself and ride chairlifts without help, Carv is appropriate.
When you start, Carv automatically places you on a personalised skill pathway that matches your current ability, from early parallels to high-performance carving. Each pathway breaks skiing down into clear, achievable steps, with real-time coaching to help you master each skill before moving to the next.
As you improve, Carv adapts, unlocking new skills and feedback so you always know what to focus on next.
PS. If you are a complete beginner and have never skied before, we suggest you take a few lessons to become self-sufficient on the mountain. You'll need an in-person lesson to teach you the fundamentals of skiing.
Carv tracks every turn through ultra-precise motion sensors in your ski boots. The app analyses your technique in real time and gives you audio feedback as you ski — like having a world-class coach in your ear.
After each run, you’ll see your Ski:IQ — a measure of your overall performance — along with detailed insights in your skill pathway, which shows you how to improve specific skills and take your skiing to the next level.
