Carv Helps Expert Skiers With:
Advanced skiers can elevate their performance by concentrating on pressure control. It’s more complex than just leaning forward and requires a thoughtful application. Applying the right amount of pressure at the right time enhances grip and speed control, which are crucial for better carving on various terrains.
Carv measures how much you continue to build edge angles throughout the turn until transitioning into the next turn. It’s a crucial skill for speed control on steep terrain; progressively building your edge allows you to pull a tighter turn. This is the key to a more dynamic carving style.
Carv assesses the speed at which your edge angle increases at the turn's outset - initiating early edge engagement creates a solid platform for quicker and more dynamic skiing. Achieving early edging involves shifting your center of mass over your skis during the transition phase of a turn.
How Carv Works
Meet Your New Ski Coach
Its slim 3mm insert is compatible with all types of boots, including those with custom fits or insoles, guaranteeing precise analysis without compromising the boot's comfort, fit, or performance.
Carv uses 72 sensors to accurately monitor foot movements, recording data 20 times a second for detailed ski technique assessment.
Carv immediately processes the data from each of your turns, translating it into 12 performance metrics that make up the hallmarks of ski technique. These scores are then compiled to calculate your overall Ski:IQ score.

How I use Carv as an expert
Ski:IQ 160
Hi, I'm Ulli
I'm a Swiss ski instructor and I've been working with Carv for a few years now. I love how objective and accurate the system is as giving me specific things to work on in my skiing.
Here's how I like to use Carv - for myself, and also in my lessons.
Ulli's Recommended Features
Carv is really helpful at giving you direction - where can you improve your technique? What is going wrong in your skiing?
That instant feedback shows you what’s happening when you make a turn. The metrics help you to identify which parts of your performance are working for you - and which are maybe working against you or holding you back.
For me, monitor modes are my favorite Carv feature. I love it because it’s so objective - having the actual edge angle announced with every turn means I can immediately adjust my movements accordingly.
Even in my skiing, I like to use monitors on easy groomers when I’m just focussing on my carving technique. It’s a way for me to check in on where I’m at.
Carv is made up of a season pass, and a device.
Your membership will give you access to our latest app analytics, as well as new on-snow and off-snow training content every season.
After signing up you’ll receive an email with a pass code. Simply enter this in the app to add your pass to your account. The pass will then activate when you first ski with Carv.
If you're not happy with Carv you can simply return it to us and we will refund both the membership and device cost.
*If you purchased in Retail your pass should activate when pairing your sensors to the app for the very first time. This can be done in the 'More' section of the app, at the bottom left of your screen. If your pass does not automatically apply, please contact us and share the serial number listed on your outer packaging. One of the team will be able to quickly sort this for you.
Yes, Carv is the same thickness as a boot warmer at 3mm. It will fit in almost all ski boots including stock boots, custom moulded boots and boots with custom insoles. We offer a boot-fit guarantee so you can find the perfect match with Carv.
Carv will automatically detect the difficulty and snow type that your skiing on - taking into account steepness and terrain variability (bumps, crud, powder). Carv will adapt your score based on the terrain so you're always rewarded for keeping your form when things get dicey.
Carv's coaching is focussed on developing an efficient, dynamic and stylish technique. It will push you to make more stable, rounded and exciting turns. While Carv is not designed to coach you in off piste (yet), the improvements it will make in your fundamental technique will certainly iron out issues so when you do get the perfect pow conditions of the season - you are focussed on your line not your technique.
Ski:IQ™ is a measurement created by Carv to provide a quantified estimate of your ski technique.
It is based on how you perform in the key skill areas of Balance, Edging, Rotary and Pressure. The Ski:IQ™ scoring system is a weighted average of the metrics contained in these skills.
It has a theoretical minimum of 0 and a maximum of 200. Carv tracks your Ski:IQ™ over time so you know when you're improving.
