Expert skiers improve with Monitor Mode
Carv's Monitor Modes are favoured by expert skiers because give you a flow of live data on your chosen metric as you ski.
Want to dial in your Edge Angle and push it over more? Turn on the Edge Angle Monitor and hear your edge angle score on every turn.
Or push your overall Ski:IQ™ score as high as possible with the Turn Ski:IQ Monitor, which calculates your Ski:IQ every single turn, and gives you the live scores as you ski, so you can really crank it.
Technique Teardown
Here's how a run summary might look for you on the Carv app.
Even at the most advanced level, two important skill areas to keep refining are Edging and Pressure.
The very best skiers are distinguished by their excellent edge smoothness - the ability to progressively roll onto the edges of their skis at high edge angles.
To improve your edge smoothness, imagine the ski is like a trampoline.
Increasing your edge angles progressively loads the ski until the apex of the turn, where you can then gradually release the energy.
Extending your turn duration by maintaining pressure on the outside ski will help you to create a more rounded turn.
At the midpoint of the turn, keep your ski tips facing down the fall line for a moment. It should feel like you are resisting your skis turning.
Increasing your edge duration will give you access to more sustained high edge angles, and more control throughout the turn.

Tip no.1
Advanced carving
Master your carving turns with the new Train with an Olympian mode, developed with Ted Ligety.
You'll work through Ted's 4 key skills to world-class carving turns - Edge Similarity, Outside Ski Pressure, Early Edging, and Edge Angle.
You'll pass each level when you ski at least ten turns in a row above your metric targets. And you'll get tailored audio and video tips from Ted at the side of the run and on the chair, so you know what to focus on to get your hip touching the snow.
Tip no.2
Maximize your scores
With Ski:IQ™, you'll get a score to track your skiing progress over time, and to compare yourself against world-class skiers on the leaderboard like Ted Ligety and Tom Gellie.
To dial in each turn and push their scores higher, experts on Carv love using the Turn Ski:IQ Monitor to get a readout of your overall score on every turn.
Tip no.3
Challenge Yourself
Carv Ambassador and 2x Olympian Kaylin Richardson breaks down how Challenges mode can keep pushing you to that next level.
